The United Nations has designated today, March 8 as International Women’s Day. Today the world will celebrate the many accomplishments of women, as we continue to fight for gender equality around the globe.
This year’s theme is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.” The goal is to achieve gender equality in the workplace by 2030.
The founders of the highly successful January 2017 Women’s March on Washington will hold a strike called “A Day Without a Woman” today. Women who can stay home from work today are being encouraged to do so as a statement to declare the importance of women in the workplace.
International Women’s Day was officially declared by the United Nations in 1975. Prior to that, the day had been celebrated in various forms since 1909.
We look forward to the day when every day is Women’s Day.
